Here on Florida’s Gulf Coast, we know that storms aren’t just a weather event, they’re a test of community.

When a hurricane strikes, there’s no time for “wait and see.” Power goes out. Roads close. Neighbors lean on neighbors. That’s why Jansen Shutters & Specialties (JSS) launched Operation: StormStrong, a volunteer-powered force built to help Southwest Florida families prepare, respond, and recover faster than traditional systems can react.
"How Florida Neighbors Protect What Matters Most with Operation StormStrong"
We Don’t Wait for Help, We Become the Help
StormStrong is built on one simple belief: when a hurricane hits, we don’t wait. We show up.
With more than 120 trained volunteers, local sponsors, and families across Sarasota County already on board, this grassroots initiative is ready to deliver boots-on-the-ground action, before, during, and after the storm.

From shutter installs to debris removal to relief kits and morale boosts, StormStrong fills the critical timing gap between impact and official agency response:
Phase 1: Preparedness
Pre-storm events, gear distribution, neighborhood outreach
Phase 2: Action
Rapid deployment for debris clearing, shutter re-installs, supply delivery
Phase 3: Recovery
Ongoing support, family-first care, and rebuilding together
Why It Matters: Community is Our Strongest Defense
After Hurricane Ian, over 60,000 families filed insurance claims in Sarasota County alone, yet many waited weeks for basic aid to arrive.

That’s not good enough. We believe in faster, local action.
StormStrong aims to delivers:
2,000+ pounds of debris cleared in the first 72 hours
500+ meals and kits delivered to affected families
Direct outreach to 200+ residents in vulnerable zones
Real people, not red tape, on your street when it matters most
Volunteerism: Every Neighbor Has a Role
StormStrong isn’t just about heavy equipment (though we’ve got that, too). It’s about people of all ages pitching in.
Main Crew: Heavy lifting, debris clearing, tarp assist
Family Crew: Distributing water, meals, hygiene kits
Torch Team: Teen-led support, organizing supplies, helping stations
Hope Squad: Kids bringing smiles, snacks, and encouragement
Whether you can swing a chainsaw, pack a relief box, or simply check on a neighbor, you can be StormStrong.
